Warnings:
Keep this product out of reach of children and animals. Do not use or store in or near open flame or heat.
Quadritop is intended for use on dogs and cats only. Not for use on other animals. Not for humans.
CAUTIONS:
Corticosteroid use during the last trimester of pregnancy may induce parturition and may cause premature parturition, dystocia, retained placenta, fetal death, and metritis.
Giving rabbits, rodents, and dogs corticosteroids during pregnancy is associated with cleft palate in the offspring. Other anomalies, including phocomelia, deformed forelegs, and anasarca, have occurred in dogs.
Do not use Quadritop Ointment to treat deep abscesses or infections. It is also not appropriate for severe burns or puncture wounds.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS:
Corticosteroid use may cause polyuria, polydipsia, and weight gain.
Side effects associated with this ointment include vomiting, diarrhea, and elevations of SAP and SGPT (ALT) enzymes.
Prolonged use may cause Cushing's disease in dogs.
Using the ointment to treat otic infections may cause temporary hearing loss. Discontinue use if hearing dysfunction occurs.
Do not use this medication in animals with a known allergy to it or to similar medications.
Instructions
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
The frequency of administration depends upon the severity of the condition. It is important to follow your Vetrinarian's prescription dosage and instructions.
For mild inflammations, the application may range from once a day to once a week.
For severe conditions Quadruple Ointment may be applied two to three times a day, if necessary. The frequency of the treatment may be decreased as improvement occurs.
Wear gloves during the administration of the ointment or wash hands immediately after the application.
Read package inserts and precautionary statements carefully before use. Do not allow children to apply this ointment.
Otitis Directions:
- Examine the external ear canal to ensure the tympanic membrane is intact.
- Clean the ear canal of impacted wax and remove any ticks or foreign bodies.
- Put on gloves before administering the ointment.
- Instill 3 to 5 drops into each affected ear.
- Wash hands with soap and water immediately after application.
Infected Glands and Cysts Directions:
- Put on gloves.
- Drain the infected gland and clean gently.
- Fill the gland with ointment.
- Wash hands with soap and water immediately after application.
Dermatological Disorders Directions:
- Clean the treatment area and remove any crust or exudate.
- Put on gloves before using the ointment.
- Apply a thin film to the affected areas.
- Wash hands with soap and water.
Frequency of Use:
The frequency and duration of treatment depends on the condition being treated, the severity of infection, and the animal's response. Mild inflammations generally respond to treatment once a day or once a week. Severe conditions require treatment 2 to 3 times per day.
